English For Life

At English For Life, we offer English programmes to help enhance your ability to use English in your everyday life. Our programmes are designed to cater to people in all walks of life: children, young adults, company executives, foreign workers and students who are preparing for IELTS.

To learn English, a student must learn four component skills:

- Listening skills

- Reading skills

- Speaking skills

- Writing skills

The underlying secret to success in developing the four skills above is mastering phonics followed by comprehensive vocabulary building, the reading of challenging texts to grasp proper styles of expression, and hands-on participation in listening and speaking activities.

All students coming into the English Programme, regardless of their age and background, will be required to sit for an English Placement Test. This test will determine the proficiency level of the student. Again, regardless of their proficiency, all students must go through Level 1 which is a Foundation course to develop competency in using phonics for listening, reading, speaking, and writing. However, if a student has some background knowledge of English, he/she will be able to complete Level 1 and perhaps even Level 2 within a shorter span of time compared to a beginner.
